Are you ready to “meet” Pilates? Or maybe you’re seasoned on the Reformer, looking to mix things up? Well, I think it’s the perfect time to take your practice to the mat with Pilates Mat Circuit!

You might be thinking, “Pilates Mat Circuit? That sounds WAY too advanced for me.” Let me set things straight. Though perhaps the term “circuit training” itself does promote certain feelings of intimidation, there is no justification for it. “Circuit” simply refers to the combination of resistance training and aerobics – exactly what we all need to keep our heart-rate up and metabolism boosted!

In EMPS’ Pilates Mat Circuit class, you can expect to feel challenged, yet confident in the physical work at hand. Beyond being on the mat, you’ll get the opportunity to work with small apparatus’ (like free weights and the Pilates’ Magic Circle) to get a sense for movement with equipment. Some exercises may involve standing upright, which challenges your balance – key for athletes, and essential practice for maturing adults. As it’s written on our site, the class “Adapts the traditional moves incorporating additional core strengthening and body conditioning at “stations,” where exercises will be assigned with different pieces of small equipment. You’ll leave class with improved posture, increased lung capacity, and strong, sculpted muscles.”

The current ‘Circuit lineup includes classes on Thursdays at 10:45am and Saturdays at 10:30am. Please don’t hesitate to give us a call or email if you have any questions about the class – 630.481.6367 and sarah@embodymovementpilates.com, respectively. Look forward to seeing you at the studio!
